Hello, I am InertiaRising, and I joined this site to hopefully get advice and or help, maybe even make new friends. Like my tagline in my signature says, I believe power is a great responsibility, as I have this in various forms in all areas of my life, but with it comes to knowing how to use what has been bestowed upon you or what you've learned & acquired, and using it the right way and not wasting it.

I am here because a dear friend of mine had their IMVU accounted h4c|<7d and taken over, and their acct is many years old. This person is not well-to-do, ....and I had to sent them money via PayPal to help them get them a secondary account established. The same asshole h4c|<7r who took over that account attempted to h4c|< mine as well about a month ago. He is now parading around IMVU in my friend's stolen account and stalking and taunting all my friends and I. I have tried everything I can with IMVU within the TOS, and I'm not getting anywhere with them. It is one thing to know how to h4c|<. It is quite another thing to hurt people and cause them misery when they are innocent and have done nothing to deserve it. If anyone has any advice on what I can do, or how I can stop this asshole, it would be greatly appreciated.

Any idea how this person got into your friend's account?

Has your friend filed an IMVU help ticket to get their account back?

He is a specific av/username (I wont say here) that friends you, then lures you over to using the Kik app and then converses with you on there. I ( as well as my friend) believe he attempts to do it through our phone. I had researched and read about how easy it is to h4c|< into someones phone when they use an app like Kik. He tried with me (phone started flashing bad)mbut I run malwarebytes on my phone. I had to shut down mine and do a full reset. I believe my friend's phone was h4c|<7d and the h4c|<7r got access to her info inside her phone.

Yes, not only did they file a ticket, but many of us descended upon IMVU help chat referencing their ticket number and trying to help get them to escalate the case.

how about we all do this, we all complain to imvu of this person and what they are doing to people, we all turn them in and maybe they will be taken care of that way,more we make noise about them the better chance to take care of them

I appreciate your sentiment Hotrods, but in order to do that, I would have to give the username of that person on here. I am not sure if I should do that or if it is allowed by IMVU Mafias. I would suppose that would be up to the Don I guess. My friends account was taken over on either Friday night or Saturday morning (5/16). So far, IMVU has done nothing, and the h4c|<7r is still running around in IMVU with the stolen account. I personally have taken time out from going into 3d chat for awhile, ..and just msging my friends, ..until I get word from my friend (the victim) that something has happened or IMVU has contacted her.

For now, I would simply suggest that your friend wait for replies to the ticket, and provide IMVU staff with everything they ask for. They will most likely request ID and proof of payment, as well as the original avatar name and birth date of the account.

imvu is well known for not doing anything at all with complaints, I've had a couple of on line friends that also have had issues yet they don't respond exept with a canned reply of we will look into it or another good one is after review we don't believe this is a issue to worry about,

You use to be able force a non-canned response by going through the BBB, but IMVU lost their BBB accreditation for being an extremely shitty company support wise, so ... now that no longer works. You also use to be able to appeal a ticket to their forum mods, to get a ticket bumped, but that no longer works as well ... since they got rid of the old forums.

Have you tried the VIP live chat?

I wanted to report good news. IMVU finally reached out to my friend and she provided everything they asked for, and they re-instated her account back to her. There was no damage to her account, other than the perpetrator gave away all her credits. In a surprise move, IMVU gave her 100K in credits to make up for the trouble she went through. I later walked her through putting Malwarebytes on her phone and setting up a VPN service/acct for her computer and phone.

I wanted to thank you all for your advice, although most of it we had already done already. If anything good came out of this, it was that I am officially registered on this site with this group. I had been reading the various posts for awhile, but was a little hesitant to actually sign up. Now that I am on here, and although a noob (lol) I extend my friendship and loyalty, and if anyone needs help or support with anything, dont't hesitate to ask me.
