Hello,

It seems a lot of meshing tutorials for IMVU are outdated. So how does one start meshing clothing in 2019? It seems impossible to start now. Anyone have some tutorials that work in 2019? For example, I know you need the male and female avatar file to open in the meshing program but where the heck do you even get those files?

I had recently spent over 40 minutes looking for these files on the new help section of IMVU's website. They are there, and they love to shout that it is new and improved. Improved by killing old links and topics, sure... Improved my ass.

They sort the files by what program you're supposed to be using. I even downloaded the files for Blender first, but later found the 3dmax files there in another place.

Last exporters i know that work is for 3ds Max 2016, which is what i use. It has been awhile so exporters may not be needed with fbx format.

As far as videos for clothing the best ones i learned from are Delures and Ners. They are dated as it still uses physique vs skinning. The concepts are still there. Good luck with clothing. I started with clothing and it is extreme bitch to start with. In the end i was able to tackle and love the bodyshape i created for myself. It is difficult to compete against the existing bodyshapes/clothing but not impossible.

Good luck!

Majority of the people I know on IMVU use ps/gimp for any 2d texturing and Blender or 3dmax for 3d modelling.
I would recommend you get familiar with ps for texturing as you can find any cracked/free version of it online for. Blender for 3d as it is a free software.

I never heard of procreate until you mentioned it. Just did a quick research about it and it looks like it is mostly a mobile app? I am guessing you may own a tablet of some sort. If that is the case and you are comfortable with it, go for it ! Practice yourself, learning IMVU texturing basics via Youtube.

I still would want for you to learn PS at some point as it is a great skill to learn beyond IMVU.

Just my sincere advice, good luck!
