Hi there...

Anyone know how to add a picture to the "Shared Room" info card. I don't see a place to add a description to the room either. Is this just not a possibility. Thanks for any advice!

Can you send us a screenshot of this "Shared Room info card" you are talking about?

So click on the Shared Room tab first and it will open the room


Once in the room in the top left... click the ? to get to the Shared Room Info Card


Here's the card but no place to change the pic for the room..

Did you try the public chat rooms mode, followed by the "manage rooms" tab?

I did try that and then I can make a public room out of it and friends can then enter the room but unfortunately that pic and Room Description info doesn't transfer over to the shared room card so my partner and I just end up seeing what you see in the screen shot... Seems pretty lame and I sent an hour with VIP Chat...lol...Clowns!!~ Thanks Don!

A shared room is just what it is a shared room that is between you and one other that no one can have access to other then the two of you. To make it a public room you will have to go to where you create a regular room and select that and then you will be able to update the description card as you want it ie the pic and room description. Meanwhile for you and your partner to be able to access the room you go to your menus and select the shared room and you both can access t as well as place furniture and poses into it. I have had to do this with my shared room with my husband on VU as well as when we make it a club to open it up so all can go to it.

Hey there... thanks for your insight. I kinda got through to that point on the public room part and was able to recreate it there with a description and the pic but still no way to actually update a SHARED Room card like a public room card as far as I can see unfortunately.

I'm confused. The part where enter a description and chose an image IS the room card. That's the information that gets displayed on the card.

The link above shows the room card for a Shared room between two people. That is the information that I would like to Add: Picture and Description. When you Share a room you can click on the tab for shared room and when it takes you to the room in the upper left corner you have the Room info where you can select moving furniture around. If you cursor to the end of the Room name you will see a circle. Click that and the barren room card will come up. There are no options or an area that I can find on the shared room webpage to adjust this information.

The public room card is fully customizable and I can add picture and description by utilizing the Manage tab. I could in theory then make my shared room also a public room but that kinda defeats the purpose of a private room with one individual unless we choose to invite someone.

Sorry I'm making you repeat yourself. I've never had a shared room so I'm not 100% familiar on how the mechanics of managing it work. So the room card in the Chat Rooms > Manage tab is working fine but the data is not being displayed on the card from within the room? Am I understanding you correctly?


Just in case you haven't tried it, here's how you make a shared room public. I know that's not exactly what you're trying to do (I don't think) but it does go into a little bit of detail on filling out the room information so it might help.

How to Set your Shared Room as a Public Room

STEP 1: Log in to your IMVU Chat Client then click on Chat Rooms.

STEP 2: Click on the Manage tab.

STEP 3: Click on Create a Room.



STEP 4: Fill in the required fields, then choose Shared Room from the Select a Room section. If you have multiple Shared Rooms, you may choose a specific one through the dropdown menu.

STEP 5: Click Create a Room. Your shared room should now be public!
