It looks like imvu is passing everything to its beta version because some time ago it made the decoration available on even browser now shop together feature has become available on imvu desktop beta.
What's the possibility of imvu closing down the client, imvu has removed many things in last some years , introduced nfts and vcoins which was really going good but it's exclusive nature is gone completely the vcoins just more feel like the credits with cheap prices of nfts.

honestly it'll shut down whenever windows shuts off support for 32 bit systems... but windows 11 does still support 32 bit since it has compatibility mode. so i guess we'll just have to wait till they make an announcement about it...honestly im just waiting for them to post about yearly vip for the tiers lol i was told by a staff member that they will make a post about it when it comes so...*shrugs*

One of IMVU's creator in residence developers did mention that the client will be discontinued eventually. Figuring out when is the real question. Personally, I'm not sure I'll wait around for the day that the client does close since I'm already getting aged out of IMVU by the newer users. I'm 26 but I feel like a damn geriatric patient in chatrooms lol.

In the meantime I plan on making my way over to SecondLife in hopes of figuring out their interface/create mode. I had some hesitancies at first but my meshing has come a long way since starting on IMVU.

@thessaBeta and mobile would still be a thing. You'd need a stronger computer, but yeah, they could.

Not everyone have strong computer,,,,,i think a majority of users……i have a gaming computer but still am using the client. I wonder will imvu lite be made compatible with beta if this happens…? Well i will take this one day at a time. Stay safe everyone.

Yeah, we've done some work on the beta client. If classic ever gets shut down, we will release a lite version of beta. Till then though, we are only releasing the classic version of Lite. We do not have the staff needed to keep up with updating 2 versions of Lite.

I still don't understand why the Desktop Beta looks like a wet paper bag. I mean, I know why in that it's just a port of the mobile app. But I mean if their intention is to phase out the classic client ..why have it be graphically and technically inferior?

I don't get the sense they're re-doing the engine to bring better graphics and new features either. If they were, I think they wouldn't announced it in some way to better compete with SL. Just seems illogical to take steps back, rather than forward.

The coding style used to make Beta/Next saves them money.

Classic is 32bit.
Beta/Next is 64bit.

It was cheaper and faster for them to build a new client from the ground up in a less efficient more agile programming language, than it was for them to update the old code base to 64bit. The newer framework they are using is also more cross platform compatible, which reduces resource overhead by about 66%.

It was never about giving the user a better experience. It was about them cutting costs.
