Note: This will not work with windows XP. If you want to try running IMVU off your ram on Windowx XP, try this software instead: http://www.softperfect.com/products/ramdisk/
This tutorial will teach you how to run IMVU from your ram using DataRam RamDisk. For those of you who aren't familiar with computer hardware, your ram is a lot faster than your hard drive. So, anything ran from it will not only load quicker, but it will also reduce load on your hard disk, meaning it does less reads and writes (work). This could potentially speed up your system depending on its specs and what you're trying to do.
If you have less than 1gb of ram, I would not bother with this tutorial. You're welcome to try it still but I wouldn't recommend it.
1. Download DataRam RamDisk (CLICK HERE)
2. Install DataRam RamDisk
3. Run DataRam RamDisk
4. Set the disk size to 1024(1gb) if you only have 2gb of ram. Set it to 2048(2gb) if you have more than 2gb.
5. Select FAT32 Partition
6. Select Windows boot sector
7. Click "Start RAMDisk"
This will create a small drive on your system the same size as you set in step 4. It's like a mini hard drive except it's running off your ram instead. Which is a lot faster than a physical hard drive. This will reserve however much ram you told it to use so you will not be able to use the ram while it's in use. So make sure not to give it too much but also don't give it too little. Research how big the program you want to run is and set the ram amount accordingly. Do note that FAT only supports up to 4gb of ram so that's the max you can set with this program. But that should be more than enough for most uses.
8. Copy the IMVU and IMVUClient folder from the appdata location on to this new mini drive RamDisk created.
9. Run IMVU via IMVUClient.exe on the mini drive.
Depending on how fast your computer is, you may not see much of a benefit from this tutorial. However, room loading time should go down a little even on a fast computer.
Note: You may not need to copy both folders, just the IMVUClient one but I have not tested that so you guys will have to mess around with that and find out if you want to.
Note 2: This program has more advanced options for saving disks and things but that is up to you guys too mess with that.
