How to appear offline

I read in the forums - the old ones - that the mobile app doesn't update your status until 30 minutes after someone logs into the app i. e. if you are online when they login, you show online for the next 30 minutes. I haven't had a chance to test that info so I'm just throwing it out there.

It doesn't completely ignore status because I have seen it show me as offline when I really am offline.

@solikaldorei
Please let us know if you can get the name of that app. That is something I'd really be interested in. ~evil grin~

:excitedwave: As far as droid, it does not appear to update. I can see my Daddy online on mobile but he shows offline on pc and he has been sleeping for a while lol that's what he said anyways. So, if that's true, and yes I do believe it is, he has been showing online on mobile for well over 30 minutes.
If I were to use the IMVU Avatar BIO Generator, it would tell me he was in DnD mode. I guess that's one way to know if someone is online. Otherwise, I believe it would show availability as online and he would pop up online on pc in a minute or two.

I was told that there would be a "true" next to the online status on IMVU Avatar BIO Generator when the person was actually online but I think the person who said that was mistaken and actually looking at the true/false under creator and moderator sections. I would suggest asking Data. He should be able to answer that.

So, as far as I can tell, u need droid and IMVU Avatar BIO Generator both in order to check. Hope this helps. :eastegg:

Using the IMVU Avatar BIO Generator yes shows if a person is Online, Available, Buddies Only, DND, Creating etc...But it does not show you if they are actually ONLINE. All it does is show you what they have thier status set as at the time they either logged off or logged on. It does not show true or false after the choices to verify if they are actually online. I was just informed tonight that the mobile app no matter what status you are in will definally show you online unlike the Client. So if I was in DND on the client and a friend of mine was using the app I would show up to all on the client as offline but the one with the app will see that I am actually online.

Heres a little trick I learned to tell when people are set to DND and to know if they are online when they show offline. Now this only works if they have a public room. Obviously you will add one of thier rooms to your favorites. The ones that are actually offline thier rooms will show up last..If all your friends are online at that time this would not be a good tester so look for a couple rooms that you know no one is ever in some off the wall random rooms where the owners have been inactive for a couple months add those to your favorites. Now those you know will always be at the end of your favorites list. When you know for a fact that your friend is offline you will notice that thier rooms will fall to the end of your list either before or after your set ones. and all the ones that are known to be online will be up towards the top based on popularity(stars) of the room or how many people are in them. Now when a person is online and in DND thier rooms will move up from the bottom to the active rooms but with no one in them. Once they go offline thier rooms will move back to the bottom. This is just a quick way to know when someone is online when they are in DND mode. Sneaky....lol

:excitedwave: I heard about that method but it seems like so much work. I'd rather just grab my phone and check if they show online or not. I think it's the quickest and simplest method. If people don't like to use the mobile app, they can just use it for that purpose. I don't really care if they're in DND lol I don't speak to many people and if they want to go DND, they must b busy or just wanting privacy.

That is sneaky and I did not know that. Might take a minute or two to set it up but I'm definitely going to use it. Thanks for sharing - lol

Even if you stay on DND u will show online to the mobile users on the "Active" as long as you stay logged in to client or any one of imvu

I have not been able to consistently replicate any mobile app or NeXT behavior as far as online status is concerned. I have had it show me online to friends when I'm on DnD and likewise show me offline when I'm on DnD. I have had friends tell me I was showing online in their app when I was nowhere near my computer (I don't use mobile) and I wasn't even logged on. I have had friends tell me that if I'm showing offline - in DnD - but I go to NeXT, even tho' NeXT is set to do not show online status, I still flash online on their apps and then go dark again which it also does on the normal client but again, it also doesn't do that consistently all the time.

Consequently I have been able to come to only one firm conclusion. When IMVU implemented NeXT and the mobile app, they totally effed up online status updating between the three versions. Who would have thought ...
