After wandering for a couple of days and only encountering dead ends, I would like to know if more people agree that an .xmf import or convert script/plugin would be useful.

I didn't want to touch the topic since I'm not yet well informed on T3DE lacking the VIP privileges for now, but I consider using the resources for inspiration, or simply as a base to progress, edit and modify is much more ethical from my POV.
This is easily done with textures but the rest of the Cal3D files are only editable by decrypting them into xml form, which for meshes is sometime counter intuitive.
Converting them into a 3d editing software importable format, or directly into the programs seems the right way to go.
I would like to know if there's any support behind my idea, since I haven't seen this asked directly with one single exception.

We have a program that can do that, but it is old / buggy, and no one has the source code to fix it.

@Datamine
sells a service where he will attempt to run the software for you on a product for a small fee. We are not selling the software because it is extremely buggy and we are unable to support / update the software at this time.

Hello,

We have a lot of chkn files, now because of a lot of creators have been retired or disabled its hard to find info for the chkn files that we already have. So a scraper program with item database will be a very good solution to this problem.
It will scrape from imvu or imvu-e (which still can view hidden items) the name, description, creator, picture and if we want even more fields.

what do you think?

I know you said you don't care about it.
But.. still waiting for a follow bot on imvu next.
