I am dealing with a bully who is blackmailing me with some chats he got via observer.imvu. He is threatening to expose an indiscretion of mine to my boyfriend in imvu unless I have cybersex with him, the bully. I consulted with the vip chat representative in imvu, and while he was nice he was not overly helpful. He insisted several times that this bully could not have acquired the images that he has indeed acquired. Their suggestion is to block this individual, but my indiscrete friend and I feel this may not be enough. This is not about my friend and me but my bf, and I know, as imvu reminded me, I got myself into this, but I don't feel that being sexually indiscrete warrants being threatened sexually by a bully. My imvu bf is in a difficult place in his rl and this would be devastating to him. Please help me protect him. I am not sure if it is appropriate and I hope you will be able to hide it if it isn't but here is the bully/blackmailer's imvu name: mfurlan Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

One thing you will learn is that IMVU CS staff doesn't ever help a situation. They outsource to another country and most of that staff doesn't speak english. I will look into the guy and see if I can find anything. Also CS will always deny there is ways to get stuff like that

I am curious, what kind of picture does he have on you? Are they pictures of your avi doing something with him or RL stuff and how did he get said pics anyway? If it's just IMVU pics, simply unfriend, block, and report him and have your spouse do the same (He can't be sent the pics if the guy can't message your spouse, at least on that account of course).

If he tries to show your spouse the pictures, either man up and work past it with your partner or try to claim they aren't you (if the pics don't have your name in them). After all, anyone can copy your entire outfit and make it look like you're doing something.

Or you can just fuck him and get it over with, you obviously don't have a problem cheating so this may be the simplest solution. Unless of course he's planning on blackmailing you long term.

It's actually not that hard to get a pic of proof for that kind of thing. Someone could screenshot it so the username shows up so the excuse of copied outfit won't work. I would just tell your lover the truth though. Make sure to let him know how sorry you are.

Yep, which is why I said "if you're name isn't in them". I agree though, telling them would be the least troublesome of the options. You may risk losing them but hell, that must not have been a concern when you were cheating so..

Either give in to the blackmail or call his bluff and just live with the consequences. Don't let IMVU drama trouble you.

You guys are right, of course, in what you say, but this smacks a bit of blaming the victim kind of thing - you shouldn't have worn what you wore etc.... The guy has no right to exploit my behavior, no matter how bad it may have been. That being said....for me this has gone beyond this incident and made me very curious about how he accomplished it and how to prevent it and also made me determined he will not get away with it. To answer the questions - they are pictures and dialog of incidents within imvu taking place in supposedly private rooms, no public rooms. I think you are right about calling his bluff. I won't even dignify the "go ahead and fuck him" comment.

One more question: aren't screen shots at the time of the incident - like a polaroid? I think these were archived images that he had to search for and copy as he was not in the rooms at the time.

im sure my opinion doesnt count,but i think it serves you well. it seems like youre a player,and you were trying to play both men,and got caught in the process,and now you want one man gone.

No one was victim blaming. They are right though you shouldn't have been activities that could get you blackmailed. If you want to call his bluff though I just want to say it's always easier for someone to find out they were cheated on from their lover and not someone else.

Not victim blaming, simply stating facts. You did what you did, so at the time you were okay with doing it. I gave you the 3 best options, fucking him just happen to be one of them since you said that's what he wanted. It's up to you if you did it or not.

Not sure what you mean. The only people who can take pictures of a room are the people who are in it. IMVU itself doesn't take pictures and store them. The only way pictures get stored on IMVU is if you use there built in camera features instead of the screenshot command or upload them to your gallery.

So the only way he could have gotten the images are:

Someone gave them to him.
He was in the room as an alt.
Someone in the room used the camera and put the pictures in their gallery which can be downloaded by anyone.
