I have a problem with files and folders being made while I'm in create mode. I have several folders in a folder labled IMVU Projects. Things like necklaces, earrings, dresses and gowns etc for things that I'm working on. When I open a project that I'm working on and then save as, to save it back in the correct folder. It saves it there but also creates a folder in the IMVU Projects folder. Then I have to go through these to make sure they match the folder they belong in. This get very time consuming. The folders that it saves in the projects folder is the original derived ID number. Example, I modified a set of bongos, and saved them in a folder called MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS in a sub folder called BONGOS. That folder has 3 xrf filel and 3 jpg files. Now I have a folder called BONGOS.CHKN ASSETS in the projects folder with 2 files in it, a xrf and a jpeg. The projects folder has gone from 15 folders to over 100 because it's adding all these extra folders. What I need to find out is,

1. What is causing this to happen?

2. How do I stop this from happening again?

When you open a product in create mode using either derive new product or edit product button,IMVU automatically downloads the assets for the product into the IMVU Projects folder under a directory with the product id in the name.
Assets are the files that make up a product, textures, animations, meshes, etc.

Clicking save as allows you to specify where the assets folder will and it will continue to use that folder if you open the chkn file you created. Because if you open a chkn file into create mode the assets folder is created in the same place as the chkn.

The save button is for creating chkns btw, not for saving assets. Every time you click it, it creates a chkn file which s basically just a zip file containing all the assets.

answer to number 1: when you are ready to save, do not click "save", it creates the product folder and it's assets in imvu projects.

answer to number 2: Instead click "save as" so you can save the product where ever you want to save it.

I always use save as, even when I reopen it again so that it puts it in the folder I want it to go.

No I always use save as, never use save. When I first started using create mode years ago i just saved it. My folder was such a mess, I couldn't find anything. So I created all the folders for items I was using and opened up the items and saved as ever since to put them in the folders I created.

OK, so do I lose anything if I take the files from the folder IMVU created and move them over to the folder that I created?

well you already clicked save as and saved it in the folder that you want it.
So you can just deleted everything you do not need in imvu projects folder
if you want to open the products you saved in a specific folder, in create mode, click open local project
