hello, i have been using the imvu classic for years and i'm aware that they are pouring all their focus on the IMVU Next instead of the Classic Client also i have tried the other Clients but its nothing compared to the classic we used to and i ended up going back to use the classic client again got a friend of mine told me one day sooner or later imvu will shut down the classic client for good and it will be only the other options available for everyone so i was wondering if that is true or not also if yes they are shutting it down then how can people that used to play it on the classic client continue? plus are there ways to keep using the classic client even though they shut it down ?

as far as im aware classic has no plans of being shut down at the moment...but yeah at some point it might be the case :( they did just released an update for it so they're kinda still working on classic client.

they cant completly remove it. its the base of all there systems the phone draws from it bet aka desk top draws from it. there trying to gimp classic so all there efforts on phone and beta aint for nothing but they cant remove it because all the items images frame works come from it.

Rest assured, I don't think they're ever going to retire or remove it. IMVU (or what's left of it) would die in an instant if they got rid of Classic completely. No if, but, or maybe about it; it would die then and there in about a week. The only way this wouldn't be the case is if they replace it with a straight upgrade. Not the desktop beta or Next, an entirely new client that works identically to Classic and/or does even more. I also don't see that happening however, so I think Classic will be around as long as IMVU is. Also if it wasn't for the Mafias and 3rd party clients, I actually think they'd of reduced or even tried to stop updates a while ago. As-is they're doing the bare minimum for a better user experience and bug fixes and most of their efforts into 'security'.

I'd also like to think if anything ever did happen to Classic, as unlikely as that is, DM and Don would have something to fill the void and allow people to keep using Classic, or something like it. For what it's worth, I only use Classic. I think Next, Beta and Mobile are unanimously awful.

A small part of me wishes things would evolve to compete with SL, both graphically and in terms of movement and control, but it really is wishful thinking. I feel any chance of that happening is lone gone, along with the potential of IMVU developing a new client that isn't dogwater. (Their golden years and high income days are long gone.)

It would be nice if they'd update the browser engine the classic client uses to support modern web standards. I don't know what the process of updating is like though, so I have no idea how feasible it is. It would be interesting to learn how to build a desktop program that uses the engine though.

Considering they leave tons of debug/dev code in the client though for years tells me they aren't that invested in working on it. Just doing the bare minimum.
