so [Censored] released a room viewer that lets you see if people are in a room regardless if there location is turned off ~link removed~ so what i was wondering is could yall make a better version of it? this one works but its updates are slow because i searched my name and it showed me in a room but i had already left. tho if this was to work 10 times better would be a killer feature to spy on ppl lol.

edit so it seems they dont scan imvu every second.
The user " " was not found in 7274 rooms that we have scanned at this time.
Our last scan was 2 mins, 2 secs ago, check back in 5-10 minutes to see any updates.

so maybe if there was scans every second it would then work just great.

I may get around to it at some point. But right now I don't have any plans for it. I have other programs I want to make and I don't see there being a big enough reward for the time and effort spent. Right now I'm more focused on fixing areas around our site and getting you all to be active again.

well i think others would use it too but it was something for the site itself to gain members maybe and so on but you dont have to make one it was more of an idea i had.

If I make it, it will most likely be a stand alone application like everything else I've made. I am still learning php so I don't know all the best optimizations and techniques to use so if speed is an issue, I'd prefer to do it in a format I know I can best code it in.

I'm not entirely sure what system to use yet either. IMVU might have an api I can piggy back off of.

I am pretty sure you would have to piggy back off of the room search API.

If you did use php, it would put a shit ton of load on our server.

If you relied on the users' computer, then it could ddos IMVU if enough people used the program or depending on the user's connection ... the program could be slower than the original offered by [Censored].

Well I don't want to make something that would allow people to attack IMVU. There's a lot of different things to consider which is why I'm not sure if I'm gonna try making one or not. I definitely do not want to add load to our server.

The "hidden room viewer" could be a marketable item. Most of the IMVU players value relationships in game, making commitments to their significant others, especially BF/GF or getting married in game, "promising" fidelity to each other. The "hidden room viewer" could be very useful to check if the significant other is "messing around" with other peeps. The "paranoid" player logs into a dummy account, and used the "room viewer" to find the significant other, hopefully not in makeout/naughty chat room(s). Busted!... then drama ensues, including catfights...

We should just make an IMVU keylogger for that; sell it under the name "IMVU Chastity Belt". Every 24 hours it emails your girlfriend a full list of the rooms you have been in and the people you have been talking to.

The hidden room viewer is too unreliable and resource intensive to be worth making. I'd be interested in hearing other methods of detection though.

I could have been in the room including people I have talked to. I could reassure my GF that I was exactly in the room talking and not doing anything wrong, unless she had friends as witnesses in that room. However, it would be damaging if she (via dummy account) could locate me and catch me in the act of misdeed.
