What info does IMVU gather and know about me? I got this response from them that has me concerned. What else do they track?

It's nothing to be worried about, it simply sends the version number you are using to them when you log in. You can find out what info it sends by looking in the IMVULog.log file in the IMVU folder:

As far as we can tell, IMVU inc can not tell if the information has or has not been received. The information is not sent to IMVU inc directly. Rather it is sent to a security / advertising company named Bluecava. Bluecava claims that all IMVU inc is sent is a list of accounts with matching data and data needed for banning / legal purposes in cases of payment fraud and illegal activities. However, bluecava also claims to sell your information to "advertisers". From all of our experience and tests, IMVU inc does not have the ability to tell if the information is not sent because they do not have full access to the database that logs the info. Who has full access though? Paid advertisers do and we have no idea who those people are, which scares us. That is the danger of IMVU's spyware ... IMVU inc knowing all of your accounts and any accounts linked to yours ... and random strangers in companies that pay knowing all of your information.

This is how IMVU's "Guilty By Association" ban works. Certain crimes on IMVU will trigger a ban known as "Guilty By Association", where every account with a percentage of matching data to yours will be banned as well as the account that broke TOS. It is why often entire families are banned, couples are banned at the same time, it is why often multiple accounts owned by a single person are often banned at the same time, and it is why using the normal client is dangerous. By using the normal client, you put yourself into a position where all of your accounts are linked ... as well as anyone who has ever logged into a same network as your account or same computer as you ... or has used the same pieces of hardware or payment source ... etc ... etc

All it takes is 1 major bit of that data to match.

Thank you, Don for the very informative list and explanation. I knew data was gathered but seeing it listed emphasizes how vulnerable and exposed data can be exchanged through IMVU or any other site for that matter, then distributed. Though some of it may seem minor, over time the accumulation of my personal info and tracking of my habits to me IS an invasion of MY privacy. Noticeably why my email fills with spam.

Aside from using T3DE/IMVULite to prevent further spying, how else would you suggest further protection through their website or email corresponsence? Proxy?

When on my alts, I use a proxy, but only on my alts. You never know who might own / read your data as it goes through a public proxy.
