The Callaghan Family invites you to participate in the Zebra Exhibition for Ehlers-Danlos Awareness Month.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a group of conditions affecting the connective tissues in the body. EDS is classified in 13 types based on the most notable features and parts of the body where those symptoms appear. Most common type of EDS includes chronic pain, very loose joints and fragile skin. Other variations include vascular symptoms, organ fragility and rupture, problems with vision and hearing.

Why a Zebra?

Medical students have been taught for decades, “When you hear hoofbeats behind you, don’t expect to see a zebra.” In other words, look for the more common and usual, not the surprising, diagnosis.

The zebra became the symbol for those with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and hypermobility spectrum disorder are the unexpected. “Sometimes when you hear hoofbeats, it really is a zebra.”

When you see a zebra, you know it’s a zebra—but no two zebras have identical stripes just as no two people with an Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or HSD are identical. We have different symptoms, different types, and different experiences—and we are all working towards a time when a medical professional immediately recognizes someone with an Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or HSD, reducing the time to diagnosis, and improving pathways to care.

The Callaghan family will be running a not for profit fundraiser, where all buy in amounts, proceeds from the auction, and any other profit will all go directly to The Ehlers Danlos Society.

AUCTION

We will be hosting an auction at the Zebra Exhibition, where we will be auctioning off custom products. The action amount will begin at a $1 donation to the fundraiser.

Picture must include something zebra (clothing, print, decoration)
To qualify as participant you must have the Ehlers-Danlos badge on your profile
Pictures to be submitted by May 26th via The Commission Callaghan Feed
Winners are announced on May 27th at Zebra Exhibition for Ehlers Danlos

1st place will win 20,000 Credits!
2nd place will win 10,000 Credits!
