An integrated development environment (IDE) also known as integrated design environment or integrated debugging environment is a software application that provides comprehensive facilities to computer programmers for software development. An IDE normally consists of a:

1) Source code editor
2) Compiler and/or interpreter
3) Build automation tools
4) Debugger

Other ways to get Adobe Flash for free:
Most colleges and some schools offer Adobe CS3 / CS4 for free.
Ask your school tech to see if they provide free adobe licence.

Can someone help me possibly with how to set this up? I am not sure off the updates I need exactly. I went to the adobe flash updates page but there is multiple links..

Actually looking at the textbook I see this is quite beyond my level of knowledge I must start at a simpler language or something for now =/

Javascript is easy to implement if you want a simple startup language.
