I use Paint.Net and I would never go back. I have like 300 plug-ins installed and find it so much more user friendly. It doesn't feel cluttered and counter productive like GIMP does for me.
I use Avast as well but right now it's disabled do to it causing a system crash on Win8.
As for Gimp.
I'm use to it, and I know most of the ins and outs so it's easy and fairly handy to use, and when something is easy for you, it's hard to find the effort to learn another software.
