Would writing a Wikipedia article about your company help?

Hello everyone,

I'm very curious, when you're starting a business and you're just starting to get attention, promoting through social media marketing tactics and stuff like that.
Do you think having a full article written about your business would help the company in some way?

I'm thinking it could show some customers that you're a serious business and by writing positive things about yourself, the customers will feel safer and find you trustworthier, because they think that Wikipedia is a neutral source, free from marketing. And for those of you who haven't yet discovered this, having somebody talk good about you has way more impact than having you proudly trying to sell yourself. This is one of the reasons why wingmen are awesome when flirting up girls.

It would probably help TIM as well, now that it is recognized as a place where illegal stuff happens. This could turn some heads around.

What do you guys think?

Agreed.

How do you get those special permissions?

This pretty much explains it: http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Be_a_Wikipedia_Editor

Either you need to get the new page / edits past the editors ... which can be pretty hard, or you need to become an editor by earning points and stuff to gain their trust.

Seems to be more work than it's worth, but I might get somebody to do it for me.
Opportunity costs = the profit you're losing, because you're doing something more worth your time, with an army as your backup though things should settled. :D

Years ago I edited a Wiki page with True Proper Facts than what was there, I got an IP Ban for posting "Fake Info"

I had that happen before with wiki answers. I use to post cheat codes for games on threads asking for them .... and my answer would get replaced with "There are none." ... and I would get banned.

Yes, I recall that happened to others also, some people out there just don't like new-comers I suppose.

Or perhaps they feel power slipping away unless they use it how they do.
