Did anyone else receive this email and feel a bit saddened all of a sudden?

Creators now have the opportunity to purchase an advertising “block” which will appear to all non-VIP IMVU users as a pop-up window lasting 24 hours in 2 locations. One block equals 2 ad spots total. The ads will be shown when users (1) log into their IMVU account on the web and (2) when they visit the web shop page. You can purchase up to 5 ad blocks, for a total of 10 ad spots.

You can choose to buy a whole day of ads where all five blocks in each location (10 total) are yours for $99.99!

Ad banners on the site and static images are one thing, but now a pop up when I log in or go to the shop? Oh great....

Well, first thing I'm gonna do is find a way to block it with Adblock or NoScript or write a Greasemonkey script if I have to.

I use adblock as well with 2 different filters, but I still get ads on imvu. I could probably add their ad directory to my filter list but they always seem to change it and break the rule.

I'll definitely find a way to remove it though when it comes out.

well they kinda already have something like this out.
whenever i go to my homepage, or the index page, an ad always pops up: like this

so im guessing that they will just be changing these for when creators pay to have their ads up.
also when im using adblock+ i cant view anyone's catalog in browser. adblock+ thinks its an ad so it removes the element...

I had that issue before, it turned out I had set up a filter that included the catalog as well. Make sure you don't have a filter or rule set up that's blocking it. You can easily see what is being blocked on a certain page by going to it and clicking "Open blockable items". The ones in read are being blocked. As for that ad, I've never seen that before.
