The terms 32-bit and 64-bit surely we often encounter, especially those often brain-tweaking the computer and look for information on the computer or on windows. But have you clear about the terms of 32-bit and 64-bit? or just read then already?, or are curious mean? It helps us to continue to read so that we know what the 32-bit and 64-bit, who knows will be helpful in making a decision to buy a PC or notebook.

The difference between 32-bit and 64-bit technology basically refers to the processing of data to the processor about how to handle the information. Processor 64-bit addressing will be able to refer more data when compared with the 32 bit processor which will have an effect on improving the performance of the overall performance of the computer.

On the operating system too, windows 32 bit and Windows 64 bit processor refers to the ability to be powered by the Windows operating system. 64 bit Windows can only be installed on the computer with a 64 bit processor. While windows 32 bit can be installed on a computer with a processor device 32 bit and 64 bit with the consequences of the performance 64 bit processor will not be maximized because even 64 bit processor will only work with the speed of 32 bit.

The difference in the 32 bit and 64 bit on a windows application refers to the version of the windows operating system used. An application that is specifically designed for windows 64 bit only work on windows 64 bit. While the application is made for windows 32 bit is still possible to use the windows 64 bit with the consequences of the application of data processing speed is still the same as when run on Windows 32 bit. And keep in mind, too, not all applications can be run on 32 bit windows 64 bit.

Some other advantages when compared to 64 bit systems to 32-bit include faster memory access, better memory management, and enhanced security features. Some of the security features available in Windows 64 bit is:

    * Protection of data traffic passing to the kernel of the system.
    * Support for Data Execution Protection (Data Execution Prevention) hardware.
    * Elimination of the 32-bit driver support. On 32 bit systems, the driver of a direct hardware access to the kernel of an operating system to deplete kernel memory capacity which impact on slowing the whole system. This is not going to happen on 64 bit system because the system allocates another special memory for the driver so it will not slow down the performance of the overall system.
    * Elimination of subsystem applications on 16-bit systems.

One of the biggest advantages of using Windows 64-bit is the ability to access RAM above 4 GB that previously could not be done by a 32 bit system. The ability to address more RAM to make Windows minimize the time required to swap processes in and out of RAM. Therefore, Windows can process data more quickly and efficiently.

Although it may require a long process, you can bet 64 bit system will replace the existing 32-bit system today. What should you consider before switching to a 64 bit system, you should first consider the following:

    * Your hardware must be compatible with 64 bit systems. Many complain of the availability of drivers for driver running on windows 32 bit can not run on 64 bit systm. However, over time, the hardware developers started providing special 64-bit drivers for their hardware production.
    * A lot of 32-bit applications can not run on 64-bit systems due to differences in the structure of the system. But with the Program Compatibility Assistant available on windows 64 bit, you can still run 32 bit applications on 64 bit windows.
    * You will find it difficult when looking for an application that is specifically made for 64 bit systems. This is true because not all developers to rewrite code that they made to form a 64 bit application. As before, only a matter of time all software developers write program scripts that are specific to Windows 64 bit.

Anyway, maybe you need to know before the actual computer that you use today include 32 bit or 64 bit? That you can see in the properties of your computer (system), on windows vista or windows 7 you can open by right-clicking on the computer icon on the desktop.

Thank you, that was very helpful, I suppose I knew tidbits about that, but never seen it in full detail, I thank you kindly.
