So, as you may or may not have heard yet, IMVU now requires you to purchase an age verification token at the cost of $5 in order to then purchase AP at a cost of 20,000 IMVU credits. What are your thoughts on this policy change? Do you like it?

I personally don't really see a downside to it and in some cases it makes AP cheaper to obtain. Before, you'd have to use a credit card to purchase AP so it wasn't really any easier to get if you were underage. Plus, if you buy your credits from a reseller or make enough of them from offers and/or developing, AP will cost less for you to obtain.

Looking at it from the perspective of a concerned adult, this change is good. It should hopefully make it harder for underage people to gain access to adult content.

Looking at it from a UFI stand point, maybe this policy change will allow us to have more adult content allowed since it is more likely that only adults are obtaining an access pass now.

from concerning adult views it would pop up like this :

if imfu want to curb and control the underage users whose buying ap and such...they should not make this changes..coz its not only making it harder...but more easier for them to obtain the AP..lmao.. all i can see is that this changes is one of the way for imfu to gain more revenue from AP community..and controlling them fake credits thing..As long the minors can get a hold of the infos they needed to fill up the form and upload them thru the web its easy to get a hold of AP...much much easier then before..

I don't see how it would be easier, don't you have submit a valid id and/or a social security card? It's been years since I bought one so I don't remember.

yeah they do need to submit em..but its all can always be other's people ids on a minors imfu id, for example

Now...here's the problem, how easy would it be for an underage user to ask a user of the age of 18 or older for their personal information and then use that friends information to purchase the AP?? Hmmm.... that all depends on the person being asked, and THAT is risky.

Ahh...further investigation shows it's verified via social security number OR id. Oooohhhhh... there goes the security right out the window. Getting mom or dad's driver's license is probably a lot easier than coming up with one of their ss numbers.

Sure they can, but the office doing the accepting of ID's isn't IMVU anymore, so when Identity Fraud happens, they will be arrested.

If someone asked for your SSN or ID to "Borrow" are you gonna say "Yeah sure" ?

So someone just takes the ID, it's on Record, you do something against IMVU, they'll come after whoevers name you used.

Honestly, if they do it, it's just gonna come back to bite them in the ass if they fuck up.

And if your stupid enough to get caught, you deserve to be.

And yes DM, using Resellers it can be around 5-7 Dollars Cheaper than it use to be which is good for people.

I hope it'll get rid of the 15 year olds claiming to be 25 and getting into relationships with older women to "fall in love" only to tell the truth and expect them to still want you, I know 4 guys who did that, and they played em along and then wanted to tell the truth and it just caused so much drama.

Exactly, I don't think it's as simple and easy as people claim it will be for underage users to use an Id that is not theirs. Also, even though you can buy a token using PayPal, you still have to provide a SS card, an ID and proof of address to get your PayPal verified. I know, I've had to do it multiple times whenever I either applied for something with PayPal or logged in from a new ip. Now, I know there are tricks to getting a verified account but I haven't really dived into that but I still don't see it being so easy for an underage user to obtain the access pass.

In the end, I hope it is harder. I for one have no wish to give kids access to AP content, despite the fact that I think nudity is harmless. But aside from that, I am hoping that with reduced risk of underage users obtaining the access pass that more adult content will be allowed.

~shrugs~ I never liked AP even when I had it. My few AP accounts I sacrificed to spread ads in AP only IMVU groups. No point in AP if you can not use it to have sex ... it is just a tease.

As for kids getting AP, they will find a way ... they always do. While growing up, I h4c|<7d my parents' computers every night just so I could spend hours watching porn. The human mind ia very persistent when it comes to sex ... the moment that puberty starts. (no pedo)

Yes but hopefully this will make it harder for them to do so at least. Or prevent some of the less intelligent or lazy ones from getting it.

if imvu made everyone do a age verification even old members i bet that would get rid of some of the kids. could it bring more freedom towards ufi products yes but is imvu willing to do that no. i still like the change up being someone can gift you the token and you pretty much just need 20k and your set if you pass. so its alot easier to get.

Can you actually gift an age verification token? That seems to defeat the whole purpose of the token if you can just send it to your friend and they are verified. Do you have to submit any information when you go to use the token then?
