I have no idea if this might help or what but, it's something I would like to share just in case someone runs into this problem and freaks out about it. And it might be a long read so if you have nothing to do or would like to read, please do. LOL

And I just thought this would be a good thing to note because we do use PayPal on this site to complete transactions amongst the mafia community. It takes a lot to go through with PayPal itself and here in this thread if you have anything that you've experienced with PayPal that you'd like to share that might happen to others, it might be a good thing to note because things do happen and sometimes where there can be a misunderstanding with the payment and it can throw a lot of things off.
I know that you can go through the FAQs at PayPal.com but sometimes those don't give some of the answers you're looking for or they are just incredibly hard to find and no one wants to really wait on hold for 30 minutes to an hour to find that answer. And as someone who has had to hunt for some of the answers and never really got a straight answer about it because either the internet wasn't giving me a good enough answer or people I knew didn't really know themselves. Kinda just had to fly pretty much blind at that point.

So, here are a few things that I have come across that might answer or just give an idea of what might happen.

There are a couple ways you can go about using PayPal, it's free to sign up and use. BUT there are some limitations to first signing up. For instance, you can receive money to your PayPal account through another PayPal account. You can also buy stuff from online as long as they take PayPal. You can use the family/friends send and request action to complete that part if you're getting money from someone who also has a PayPal. Paying for an online thing will walk you through the steps. And I know that if you're doing that from the US it is free but I am not sure if internationally is or isn't. I'm not entirely sure on how that part works if you're are outside of the US, so can't help there. xD

Also for an example, if you have a PayPal without a bank account linked to it, you can't receive money through people paying with credit/debit cards, and certain methods used through sites until you have made the verified account. If you link your bank account, you are pretty much good to go for everything that PayPal has to offer, plus you can transfer the funds from your PayPal to your bank account and it takes about a day and vice versa. I think there is a small fee for transferring the money from your bank to your PayPal but it's like 30 some odd cents.

So with all that banking and PayPal, another thing is if you have no money in your PayPal account and have your bank account linked to your PayPal, you can still pay people from your bank account through Paypal as well, it just has a small fee. I think that fee might be differed to how much you are paying but around $50 is about I think 30 cents maybe less.

The Story

~So the story is, or more of a lesson on how PayPal works in this situation. If you have paid someone from your bank account through PayPal, it seems so that the Seller is going to have to wait 5 days from the time the Customer paid to receive the payment. If you had money in your PayPal account itself, then transferring funds through whichever payment method may be instant. This can also depend on the Sellers part if your account is a verified account.

So with that being said if you don't mind waiting for the money to hit your account then, no big deal. If the Seller or Customer cancels it before it has reached the account then the Seller does not get it. Now the heart attack part is, no one said that it would still be taken out of your bank account and wouldn't be seen for days. The bank will say it's gone to whoever the Seller is but on PayPal, it says that it didn't so again before going off on a seller make sure to look around for FAQs if needed or if you read this and someone encounters it or you yourself does than this is one thing to keep in mind.

Don't worry, it will take it out of your bank account but it will eventually within 3-5 business days or more depending on if there are holidays within that time period, will show up back in your PayPal account and you can either keep it there or transfer the funds back to your bank account. It's a bit of a heart attack when you pay quite a bit and it pretty much disappears. Definitely, if it doesn't show up in a week, make sure to call customer service.
That's all I can really think about for now but if someone does encounter something like that, just a heads p to Sellers and customers as well.

Because nothing like feeling like this :tlasmug:

to completely like this :tla9: is no fun.

Been using Paypal for years and here and there they have thier problems as well as double charging your bank account sometimes and it is a pain in the but to get the charges reversed as you have to contact your bank and then paypal and then the person/company they have paid just to get back what you were double charged from. And then your account can be suspended/Locked for up to a week if they are in question and you do to many reports to have items reversed.

ive never used paypal in the past, but i signed up not too long ago, about two months now, for sale shopping online, since i was told its a safe way to pay if i didnt receive my items, but i never knew the difficulties mentioned above, about not having money in the paypal and how they take 3 to 5 working days before the seller gets paid, that info is good to know, means its best to transfer the amount early from bank to paypal, for argument sake between seller and buyer, so there is no confusion for me, the impression i paid and was conned not received my goods, lol :)
thank you for posting.

Thank you so much for the insight!
As a PayPal user outside of US, I have figured that using invoices is a great way to avoid getting scammed.
At least I haven't come across problems so far *fingers crossed*
Usually, I get paid within 24hours that way.

Does the seller have to wait 3-5 business days for the transfer even after sending an invoice to the buyer?

Invoices are a good way to keep track for sure. And I'm actually not sure if there is a wait. I know that sometimes there is. I just don't know when that happens. XD
