Who are these bot accounts?

I have occasionally seen these "users"/accounts on this website and I'm wondering what their purpose is?

They're:
Google [Bot]
Bing [Bot]

In simplest terms they allow Google to gather information for SEO purposes.

I was curious too. Always saw them and never or forgot to ask about them.
