I got into a huge fight with my stepdad lastnight and I snapped. I ended up hitting him with a broomstick after he punch me. Just a huge mess, Long story short my step dad and I both get arrested. And I end up going to the hospital to learn all the punches he landed gave me a contusion in my skull. I'm not sure what's going to happen. Hopefully I get let go and I end up going to my aunts. Or I'll end up in jail for assault/assault with a deadly weapon. Not trying to put my business out there (idrc) Taking the time to write this before i pass bk out. If I suddenly stop being active I am probably in prison or somewhere.

First of all if you were struck first before you returned blows no matter with or without a object then you are classified as defending yourself. True you both got arrested as it is a domestic disturbance and if both parties are claiming the other started it to solve it then both go to jail overnight. Dependent upon our age if under the age of 18, I would not know as I don't look at cards, But if you are then it is considered abuse to a Minor and the adult will maybe get some time a year for domestic violence or a ankle bracelet or ordered to anger management classes..In this case if you both are adults and it's your first time offense most times they will send you to anger management classes. This also is different for each area...state, country that you live in based on thier individual laws.

Believe me a ex and I got into it and I threw a 15 inch TV at him and bonked his skull he went to the hospital minor injuries from it but as I told the police I was defending myself from his blows which all I had was some bruises but since he was the agressor and I was the defender he was only ordered to Classes and me well just a nice talking to from the cops and offered to go to a defense class. This was in Texas. So again it varies state to state.

Domestic abuse is one of the Major crimes in the country now so alot of states are jumping on the band wagon and giving stiffer penalties. Just remember this..You can knock the crap out of someone all you want as long as the marks do not last more then 15 mins..So watch your nails ...lol. If you are defending yourself always make sure there is someone there to see who lashed out first because then it is on them as alot of courts do not take he said she said comments.

We were already in the room and he rudely started stuff by comolaining about the tv so my mom told him to go to another room. I had a broom handle because the broom we had was already broken, i had no intentions on hitting him with it. I was about to go to my moms room to close the vent because the heat was blasting. But gary started being disrepectful to my mom trying to piss her off and ruin her mood. I only went to the room to tell him to lay down and be quiet cause what he was doing was ridiculous. I suffer from anxiety attacks. I do not get viilent when i get upset. I just helfld everything in for so long because its not my house and i was living there rent free. I cooked,cleaned and took care of the house in both my mom and his absence. I hadnt had my medicine in a while because theres one car and gary needs it 24/8 or our doctor appointments get canceled because he has to work. I was pebt up with years of mental and verbal abuse from him. So he shoved me and i told him not to touch me. So he decides to swing for my face. So i end up hitting him with the broom handle. I just snapped things let out to the hall because he kept hitting me in the head. I got knocked onto the wall so i threw a picture at him to try and defend myself. My mom stepped inbetween us while gary continued to insults and say vulgar things so i ran to get a knife because i was scared. My mom stopped me and knocked the knife out my hand and restrained me by pinning me to the floor. Which ended in him. Calling the police. He is a heavy alcoholoc with extreme anger problems. He was even in court for getting intoxicaded and slapping his youngest son on the head. He was supposed to quit drinking and go to anger management but did neither. He either spends what he makes on gambling or alcohal. I understand what i did was wrong and i take full responsibility for my own actions.

Everything went fine, My step dad Tried to press charges against me until he found out from my attorney that I had not only verbal proof, but evidence ( pics) of how bad I was beaten. He was crying about how he got hit across the chest and back with a broom handle versus him literally giving me contusions all over my face and scalp. So he dropped it.

Although it was a terrible situation you found yourself in, I'm glad everything legal turned out fine for you. The emotional scars will be a different story so I hope you will be able to weather those as well. Gives you big hugzz if I may.

no your not going to go jail for that if u do it just goes to show how fucked up and unjust that justice system is over by u..the most u can get is a charge and that is if your step-dad decides to press charges and your story basically got me thinking like because he's yo step dad he think he can over rule u and he came around u and u lashed out but if its like that and he did came round you first then u act in self defense and take it from me cause I'm from the streets if its and act of self defense you will not be going to jail and to besides its a broom stick u hit him with not a machete!! ..goodluck tho!
