I think I killed my pc... Image
That's the only thing I can access. I just get a black screen that says a disk read error occurred.:( anyone had this issue before? I'm going to dig up the original boot disk but I really don't want to do that.. *blush* my closet looks like a war zone.. and I don't want to end up wiping my hard drive and losing all my files. I tried manually resetting the bios settings but it didnt work. I'm thinking of checking the battery now but I hate blindly poking around in the hardware for something that may not be a problem.

Image nvm! I caved and opened up the tower. reconnected all the cables in case something was loose and I did find one that had come completely undone. I'm back on pc. :tlasmug:

Glad to hear you fixed it. Sounds like either the power or data cable came unplugged, I wonder how that happened.

It was a cable that lead to the hard drive. I just plugged it back in and checked all the others. I think they got loose when I kept moving the tower off the base so I could mess with the headset wires.

Always a rule of thumb when your PC goes dark..Check your plugs, Check your connections outside, if you have plug N plays check them make sure they are seated correctly Power down and then power back up. If the issue remains after that then start sweating it as then there is something that will require a tad more work and possibly putting it in shop if you are not a computer wiz. Glad it was just the simple cables.

Yep but it was the inside cables, not the outside. If it had been the ouside cables, my issue would have been power or my usb connections. Everything was working fine. The issue i was having was the system not booting up and not even loading the boot screen. Pc powered up fine, just didnt load. I was able to use the mouse and keyboard in order to run a few commands and try to reset to default Bios. Didnt work because pc is set to boot from the harddrive and the connection to it wasnt working. I should probably make a boot disk just in case. I have no idea where my original one is :awesome26:
