IMVU inc has the client programmed so that when an avi whispers, it triggers an avatar action. The avatar action is just a slight twitch though ... nearly impossible to see, but you can replace the action's cached xaf file in your local client cache with a more noticeable action's xaf ... like break dancing. Then, on your end, you can see people break dance whenever they whisper someone in the room.

It has been a few year since I last did it ... just as a proof of concept to see if I could.

A friend told me that by copying the chat the whispers are reflected in the notebook, I have never tried it, is someone encouraged if he has the vip to clear the doubt?

Honestly I think it be wrong to be able to see others who whisper and it should be meant to be privet

Yes.. as stated above you will see there avatar twitch each time they whisper, you must be zoomed in and close up to see it but that’s how you can for sure tell they’re whispering..

LOL@twitch. Now you have me digging thru my client cache to see if I can find the .xaf file. May have to clear cache and then enter a room and whisper with a friend to make it easier to find ...

First you need the PID of the whisper animation.

The assets are cached in: %appdata%\Roaming\IMVU\HttpCache\

Search for the animation's CFL file by searching for: "product[PID]_"

Copy the name of the CFL file into notepad.

Get the CFL file of break dance using the same method.

Drop a copy of the break dance animation's CFL into the folder for the whisper animation's CLF.

Delete the whisper animation's CFL.

Rename the copy of the break dance animation's CFL to the name of the whisper animation's CFL, which you copied into notepad.

Restart the IMVU client.

That should do it ... or at least that is how I did it years ago; have not tested it sense, but it worked back then as a proof of concept.

A guy named 8mapz helped me with this experiment back around 2008, in the VIP section of our forums: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=411&p=4040&hilit=cache#p4040

The method might need tweaking a bit for the modern day client.

Damn that sounds like it could be way too intrusive.. I don't think that it's a good idea for anyone to have the ability to do that, whether it be your lack of trust or anything else, honestly

Hey, that's where meshes, opacities, and textures are cached, and whisper isn't an item, are you sure you linked the correct place? If it's a more integral part of IMVU, shouldn't it be somewhere more permanent?

Also, literally every product starts that way, you'd have to clear your cache, and then load into a room with at least three people, and then whisper someone for this to have a shot at working, and at that point you'd still have to search through the items you were wearing, the other two people were wearing, and the room items. Could you please provide the product IDs? It's not like they would change from person to person.

The whisper animation is just like any other product on IMVU, cached with all other product assets.

I do not remember the PID. Like I said, it was many years ago since I last did this trick ... so it might not even be viable anymore. I no longer have a personal interest / curiosity in performing the trick myself.
