hmmm like a text client. never seen one for imvu honestly. im sure there are ones out there but private maybe?. interesting topic though

At the time, there is no only text client. The only thing that worked that way was before they took down the chat in imvu next, the browser version of the mobile app, to disable 3d.
I used to do that on the mobile app sometimes to save phone battery when I was far away from a charger, and to this day it should work just fine.
I believe that you can emulate that using a PC app to access your phone from distance, to have only chat, use of your big keyboard, and as a bonus, no crashing in room because of spoiled h4x0r kiddies
think about that, I might solve your issue even if it's a bit of over complication for what it's worth

if you use IMVU Next download the Desktop Version, it should be a way to enter a chatroom without needing to open the 3D chat, yes
just enter the room you want into and then just minimize the chat so only Chat tab that appeared on the bottom of your screen.
and with that no 3D chat appears and you could do multiple chats on different room aswell without lagging.
