Hey Mafia! This is a bit of a long post for me but I really wanted to have a discussion on the new direction that IMVU is headed regarding credit transfers and some of the stories you might have heard about customer service employees. To skip the long read, focus on the points in color!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the preface out of the way, I want it to be known that I've been lurking the IMVU discussions like a mad-lad ever since customer service started asking for verifiable information to transfer credits. Such examples of that information include:
- Are you the original owner of this account? If yes, please state your real first and last name
- Date of birth listed on the account (DD/MM/YEAR)
- Current email address
- Paypal email address used in this account
- First and last name linked to the Paypal account
- Relationship to the owner of the Paypal
Briefly, I am no stranger to these questions. I had to provide numerous amounts of photo ID and information because my IP address did not match up with what was shown on my drivers license. After telling staff that it was because of a VPN, one of my accounts was put on hold for more than a month until it finally got resolved by the 'proper team.' Unfortunately after reading the comments under the discussion page I feel like I messed up big time by giving IMVU ALL of my information just so I can transfer some credits. Not only is this extremely invasive but the fact that you have to do it every time you go to transfer credits is preposterous.
What I really want to touch on today is that under a thread, COUNTLESS people have mentioned the fact that IMVU's customer service employees are up to no good (which is not surprising). What really shocked me was what exactly they were up to behind the scenes.
Going through the thread, these are just a few example comments that I stumbled across and wanted to know if such things did actually happen that you guys know of. No amount of googling, ever got me anywhere so I decided to turn to the MAFIA FAM:
Examples:
1. "I don't trust this, you guys just had an employee embezzling money, you don't need all my personal information like that so one of your staff members can start stealing from us. No, you need a better system there guys"
2. "I'm not in favor of giving CS my personal information, especially just to transfer credits. CS on imvu don't have a good track record for helping and being honest. I'm not saying all are bad but there have been some shady ones too over the years. In fact there is a 3rd party website that allows people to spy on others throughout imvu. It has been said the person that runs that site is an ex imvu employee . so they must know imvu's vulnerability and you don't need paypal to use it either. What is frustrating is, it has been reported many times but the site still remains active throughout these years. Yet, imvu is so quick to ban other users without giving them a specific explanation."
3. So to add a detail I forgot until JUST NOW! I had a side account, that I hadn't logged into for 2 months, a while back. The account was over 60K in the hole for credits that Were NOT On the account to begin with (it only had 2K on it), and could not have been transferred to begin with. In contacting customer service I was told "Our record shows that you requested to transfer 60k credits to {REDACTED} via live chat." which was not the case as I had not been. If the credits did not exist, they never should have been allowed to go into the hole period.
This tells me 2 things. IMVU staff is stealing from accounts that they think are not used. And the staff member falsified a record that never should have existed to make it look like I actually made the request. I was never notified of a password change, and I could log into my account with my original password when i discovered the theft/scam. There are some corrupt people in IMVU Staff (outsourced or not) and now you want to give them access to details that give them the ability to take over our personal bank accounts? Our PayPal?
What happened to, "Staff will never ask you for your personal details or passwords."
4. They're quite literally asking for the things that you should NEVER give out for security purposes. CS has become an untrustworthy incompetent place that would rather condescend towards and threaten us with their peon-power than actually help us and/or display an ability to comprehend the issue at hand. There are a few rare ones out there that are good, but for the most part, I dread contacting them and have zero trust in them.
5. These are Outsourced call agents that take these calls from third party call centers.... My Family works for these call centers and I know all to unfortunately the kind of shady practices that go on in these places. Especially if the company has a work from home contract... Giving out this info to customer service agents is giving them access to everything they need to access or sell the info on your paypal account and every bank account attached to it.. Now some companies ask for a no items or phones on floor policy but that still does not stop these agents from getting creative. I could tell you things that would scare the bee Jesus out of ya all but I will let your imagination wonder and ponder. 90% of call center agents are not even background checked.... So I would urge people to seriously not answer any of these question before IMVU has a better way to implement their bigger problem here..
After reading through so many examples and reaching out to other associates of mines, it seems that this is only the surface of that IMVU employees are up too. I do question the validity of some of these examples but there might be some truth to it after all. Are what these people saying is true? Are these things still happening that we don't know about? .......FIND OUT NEXT TIME ON IMVU CONSPIRACIES !!!!!!
TL;DR: What are some horror stories that you've heard about IMVU Staff doing?
