Nope. I have googlebot registered to our site as a bot and I have given bots the same permissions as a guest, always have. I have always been worried of google bot placing our members only sections in google cache, so I only allow it access to the same sections that a non-registed guest has access to.

Ah. Now I see. Good move. Most people don't do that.

I've been aware of switching user agents for a while but I never really took the time to learn what you could do with it. This will come in handy as I usually just register with a spam email.

That's fine, normally I am only there to get some data or a file.

this is a old known method. one day.i used googlebot agent. to search a specific forums vip area. with out signing up. and it did work. i was able to get into the vip section of the forums and view threads. but that was a sometime ago. even then. it wouldnt work on most sites/forums. i have tried. plus i believe i tried it a couple months again after the breech. and it was fixed. i couldnt view vip area no more with googlebot.
