ok guys here is a very simple one in php that can pull alot of stuff atm its set to pull just your avi name online/offline
Code
<?php
$aviname1 = "http://www.imvu.com/catalog/web_mypage.php?user=uruserid";
         function get_avi($aviname1) {
        $start = '<title>' ;
        $end = "</title>";
        $url= $aviname1;
        $string = @file_get_contents($url);

          preg_match("|".$start."(.*)".$end."|isU", $string, $match3);
        $return = explode(":", $match3[1]);
                   return $return[2];
                  }

          $name = get_avi($aviname1);
 function get_avipic($aviname1) {
        $start = '<div class="availability"' ;
        $end = '</div>';
        $url= $aviname1;
        $string = @file_get_contents($url);

          preg_match("|".$start."(.*)".$end."|isU", $string, $match3);
          $return = explode(':', $match3[1]);
                   return $return[1];
                  }
          $pic = get_avipic($aviname1);

        echo "$name $pic";
?>

The function get_avipic i just wrote there the triggers eg $start and $end im going to be changing when i figure out how i want to do it for now this is just a simple php that will parse out the name and offline / online when i get all the bugs worked out on my curl one which will be alot better then this one i will share it

OMG ~nerd gasums~

I never knew php had http response capabilities without phpcurl.

My questions:

1) why do you set $aviname1 to the URL and then set $url to $aviname1, instead of just setting $url to the URL?

Code
$aviname1 = "http://www.imvu.com/catalog/web_mypage.php?user=uruserid";
$url= $aviname1;

2) Do you think php could handle login cookies and logins if we wanted to parse part of the IMVU website that required us to be logged in to see?

well tbh im not sure must have did it in the spare of the moment type of thing lol ... yea looking at it now im like wtf i do that for lol ..... on another note the Curl one im working on im making some progress but its going to take me longer thne i thought figure id just make it like the imdb parser everyone knows about so it be like this when done $avi['name'] $avi['pic'] etc. its still in the very eailer stanges i havent worked with curl much this is only my 2nd script with it 1st one was to scrap adult movies from porplur site and store the id to them and have a flash embed code so it scrape store to mysql db then later display on page with ss and all but this one is differnt there java pop ups is killing alot of my parsering tech.s so im going to have to use curl with browser and referal and all lol

and the 2nd question im not 100% sure but i think there is a way to do it with curl if im not mistaken also they have an open source html dom parser but ive never had any luck with it .... but you got the gears in my brain turning now lol .... more to come

Regax isn't smart to do this with, it takes to long to render :D

Try phrasing the HTML into XML and using xpath >_> <_<
