Method 1

Click on Start in the bottom left hand corner of screen.

Then click Run.

Enter CMD and then click OK.

You should now be at an CMD prompt screen.

Type ipconfig /release and click Enter. [This will disable your Internet connection.]

Then, type ipconfig /renew. [This will turn your internet back on with a new IP Address]

Method 2

Type 192.168.1.1 in your Internet address bar.

Enter the password. If you have not chosen a password, use the factory default password of admin. No username is required.

Go to status, then click DHCP Release.

Under Setup in the grey bar go to MAC Address clone on the blue bar.

Click enable, then click clone PC's MAC address.

Save settings.

Unplug the modem, but keep the router plugged in.

With the modem unplugged, go to status and click DHCP Renew.

Plug in modem. Wait 1 minute and press refresh. Your new IP address should be there.

Method 3

Depending on your ISP , this may be a good method for you. I have cable broadband. Although my IP is dynamic, it hasn't changed for years. I tried every method out there.

There is a very simple way to get around this. "Spoof your MAC address."

What is a MAC Address?
To Simply put your MAC address is a unique ID assigned to your network card or router.

Example:
My ISP for instance, sees the MAC address of my network card, and always assigns me the same address, even if my router or modem are off for extended periods of time.

So i use a program called Technitium MAC Address Changer Very simple program and very useful. You can change you MAC address with this as many time as you want, and go back and use a old MAC address if you want.

How it Works:
Let's say your ISP assigns your ip 1.1.1.1 with MAC address A
You spoof your MAC address to MAC address B.
If you reconnect, you will now see your IP address has changed to 1.1.1.2
Need a new IP? Change your MAC address to C, and now your IP address is 1.1.1.3

But Wait! Need to use the address 1.1.1.2 for some reason? Simply change the MAC address back again to MAC address B. and BOOM

You are awesome! the 3rd method was informative. Sadly the second one just wouldn't work with me. I bet my router is a bit different from yours' software.
Thank you for sharing though.

None of them work for me unless I use an actual proxy. I think it has something to do with my ISP and router.
However, changing your mac address does help prevent people from tracing your hardware. Hardware bans are always a bitch.

Thanks Don. I have a possibly stupid question. After I run the program that was listed in that link, do I need to reset my modem?
