So My IMVU Account "BDSM" has been Disabled for "3000 more days" according to the client, I checked my email and it said it was a bad name. Here's what my support ticket says. Tell me, if I should add anything else?

"I currently do not have a Name change token. And My Account has been Disabled due to it being a bad name. In Which I do not see how when people are running around with names like "Sweetbitch123" "PhuckYa" "Ganja" and such. I don't see how "BDSM" is as bad as "Bitch" being in someone else's name. It's a way of life, It's also my freedom of speech. There are religions based off of BDSM. That's technically Discrimination. I should be able to express myself freely, but apparently not. I didn't know the Gorean Culture was illegal. There are tons of rooms on IMVU Based on BDSM. Yet you choose to take my name away? If it were against the rules to have this name, then why let it be available for me to buy? That's technically theft. Woah, there's two Major things that are against the law. Discrimination, and Theft."

IMVU's TOS states which words are AP / UFI / GA. Bitch is listed as a GA word, as well as quite a few other curse words. Cursing is considered GA.

Gorean culture is not illegal, but it is AP. BDSM is considered AP because it is sexual fetish according to the rules that IMVU themselves have to follow. While sex on IMVU is UFI, sexual fetishes are AP. You are not allowed to have AP names because everyone can see your name, including GA users. The same goes for public rooms. BDSM public rooms must be AP, else the room can be reported and disabled.

The issue with ganja is that it has multiple meanings. Yes, ganja is slang for a drug, but it is also the front of a boat.

As for making BDSM AP being discrimination, that is not up to IMVU. IMVU has to adhere to the payment processors and the credit card companies, which place rules and regulations on the type of content they can sell / expose different types of customers to. (there are children on IMVU) If IMVU allowed you to keep the name, the services that process payments to them could freeze IMVU's payment processing / online bank accounts. In which case, IMVU would no longer be able to accept money for their goods and services. Yes, we could argue the definition of BDSM, but at the end of the day the politicians of the most conservative countries decide that because those are the people who decide which international payment processors get to operate in their country / effect and sway the rules of the payment processing companies. This shit storm rolls down hill from the politicians to the payment processors to companies like IMVU ... all the way down to consumers like you.

As for disabling your account being theft, this I would agree with 100%. IMVU allowed you to choose the name BDSM. They sold the name to you and the products that go with it. They should not have disabled you, but should have given you a free name change token instead. Yes, when you signed IMVU's TOS you did agree that they are allowed to disable your account at any time for any reason or no reason. However, an online terms of service is not a legally binding document.

In my experience, if the name was a premium four letter name that you bought, then IMVU normally gives you a free name change token to change it if they later on decide that the name is inappropriate for their community.

They've given me a free name change, and also refunded my name change token. Time to find a new name, however.
If it weren't for DashofPinkk to help me out, I wouldn't have even gotten anywhere with this.

As for my name "BDSM" they've taken it out of the Names allowed. So No one else has this issue in the future.
They also highly apologized over the phone call, as Gorean Culture is completely legal. And therefore isn't against their TOS, BDSM isn't just AP related. There are tons of BDSM based GA Rooms. You'd be surprised.
I had a phone call with Stephen, one of the Customer Support Reps for IMVU, He knew I was willing to take things to small claims court, by the way I acted over the call. Hence why I got my refund. As for anyone that wants to help me out here, Toss me some good 4 letter names in a PM, As I'm going to change my name from what it is now. (Tortueux) to something else.

Which number did you call and which department did you talk to? I thought IMVU removed the public phone numbers from all departments except the billing department which was refusing to provide support for disabled accounts last I checked.

I called the Billing phone number, pressed 2 and it directed my call to an actual rep in which I talked about it. Simple as that.

Odd. Thanks for that information. In the past, whenever we tried that ... they just told us to file a help ticket for disabled account support and then hung up on us.
