Hey all I am Maverick, and well as far as skills go I am more of a problem solver then anything else. I really don't know how to do all that technical stuff on IMVU, or even make codes, but I can do profile picture's, and do photoshop a little bit, but I am interested in learning how to do that.

I have a problem for you.

How many triangles and quadrilaterals are there in this figure?
Image

There are two ways to solve this problem
- The hard way by counting the shapes
- An easier way that require some search maybe ;)

Welcome Maverick. If you can solve
@Elie's
puzzle above I'll gift you an item off your wishlist.

I see 8 triangles and 9 Quadrilaterals. But seeing how this is a very complicated shape, and have lines everywhere there could be a lot more triangles, and quadrilaterals that you do not know about or see in the image. So it's hard to solve this one, but I am going with 8 triangles and 9 Quadrilaterals.

Is this correct?

Yep you are right, that's why I suggested another way to solve it. Maybe trace the source of the image and investigate the source of the question? :awesome40:

Well the thing is your eyes can play tricks on you, but your brain never does. Where you can see one thing, your brain will always see something else. So never go by your eyesight to figure out problems, but always listen to your brain. And I never take the easy way out of things not even on the most complicated of problems.

I didn't solve that problem for a gift, but more because I love solving problems. And my answer of 8 triangles and 9 quadrilaterals is finalized. Because there is no other answer it could be, unless you really draw the thing yourself, and slowly add the lines yourself, and then count everything and that would make it a lot harder on you then what it should be. Because your eyes see what the answer should be, but you still count everything with your eyes. Where as your brain already registers the answer, and tells you what the answer is before your eyes can get the final answer. But it is 8 triangles and 9 quadrilaterals.

okay I will try to change ur mind
take a look at this illustration, in each of the highlighted triangles you have smaller triangles:
1 -> is a triangle
1, 2 -> make a triangle
1, 2, 3 > make a triangle
and so on, you can clearly see tons of triangles already

But honestly, I just wanted you to get the link of the original image which will lead u to: mathsisfun.com
then if you just google my question and add the site mathsisfun.com
you will get the solution, which is:
64 Triangles
36 Quadrilaterals
Total: 100 shapes.
