I have a mesh that I'm working on in SketchUP and I need some help figuring out a method for creating a portion of it.

I'm meshing an Alienware Predator (old desktop gaming computer) for my room.

Here's what it looks like in real life:

Here's what I've gotten so far:

Getting that shape done was a bit tricky, took me a couple hours to get it just right. Now the part I need help with are the "eyes" that intersect the sides of the case and angle downward.

I've tried my usual technique of intersecting two shapes and removing the unused faces and edges to form the shape but the results were pretty bad.

If anyone uses SketchUP and has a good technique they think could work for this send me a private message or post in this thread.

to be honest. your already done.... all you have to do is make texture in certain angel to add that texture like template if you make into template and put texture in right side it should work perfectly fine.

I don't like using textures to add fake detail to a product, especially if those textures come from Google Images. That's something low quality devs do. I make my own textures and add detail to the mesh itself.

No Boolean modify on SU?

Boolean modifiers combine multiple objects into a single shape. I think he is suggesting you make the detail as a second object and then combine it with the first object using boolean modifiers.

SU stands for Sketchup which has tools for boolean modifiers: https://www.google.com/search?q=SketchU ... +modifiers

Yeah I get what SU is just never heard of a boolean modifier before. It sounds like exactly what I already do: create multiple shapes and intersect them then erase the bits I don't want.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to successfully create the shape I need and was hoping someone new a better technique or had an idea on the shapes that would work.

Nope, this mesh was shelved. I have recently made a friend who uses Blender and she makes maps for me so I might ask her to map this one.
