so I have all of the assets, and I've got .xmf files and .xrf files. what are those and how do I get them into blender?

You can't really. If you want to edit poses and meshes you'll have to do it manually by editing the xml.

how does that work? and if you can make a blend file import as an xmf, why can't the process be reversed?

For the same reason you can't save a Photoshop PSD (layer) file to a jpeg and then convert that jpeg back into a PSD with all the layer information.

Check out Keef's XRF tutorial for more information on them: http://www.geocities.ws/slkeithx/IMVU/T ... lopXRF.htm

@DataMine
Thanks for posting bro. I had lost my link to Keef's old site and it seems his newer pixelpusher site doesn't have all of the old tutorials and info. I needed this link, this is awesome!

Hello, I will be very happy to help you.
Blender supports FBX format.
This kind of files (FBX) are shared in imvu groups.
If you find one of these groups you will be able to login to Blender very easily.
Also I think Datamine sells designer programs.
The job will be easier if you buy these programs.
I wish you a good day...
