Recently I confronted/accused someone on imvu for ripping my stuff. (BAD IDEA) It was out of anger and I regret doing it. Now I feel I'm being target/stalked/h4c|<7d because they think I'm going to rat. I'm no rat. I'm latina and was pretty much raised to keep my mouth shut. Not sure what to do. Thinking about just quitting. But I've spent a shit load on imvu and its like throwing $ away.

PrettyPretty,

First, I would like to recommend that you ask for your post be moved be to http://imvumafias.org/community/viewforum.php?f=187, if that's possible. While this forum you've posted under is indeed titled Basic Creator Help, I believe it was meant for posts requesting help and inquiries relating to the actual creation process. There's also a higher chance for you to receive a larger number of responses to this post if listed as a topic in the linked forum, for the target audience in that forum is far wider than here, which is more or less just creators helping creators.

Now, with that being said, I'm really sorry to hear about your predicament. If you truly believe that they've ripped your products in particular, I personally would recommend that you contact IMVU support with any and all proof and suspicions that you have. Considering that you've already accused the person, you haven't left yourself much choice in terms of options. I would attempt to get room urls with them in a room while wearing your product. May not exactly help but worth doing imo. I would also try to get product details and the like. As well as screenshots of your "signature" within the products, if you left any behind. Basically gather any and all possible information which may be useful in proving you've been stolen from. Organize it all, then submit your case to IMVU.

I respect that you don't wish to "rat" the other person out, but in this case you've already brought the trouble to your doorstep, which, if you think about it, is the point of not ratting in the first place. So I don't see that there isn't much to lose. In fact, you're likely to loose far more by not ratting, since it seems you're genuinely considering giving up an account that you've put significant money and time into. So I would just state my case with IMVU support and hope for the best. You've already knocked the arrow at this point, so see it through. I wish you all the best with this.

Regards,

Hi Petty, We all have a bad day and no one is perfect. If you can just send them a lil message with a small gift of your picking or not and just say you should had looked at the product they made a lil better and your sorry for the mix up. Or just block them and let IMVU handle it. I would just ignore them and it will blow over in no time. Everyone just wants to have fun with there own thing and if they did indeed take from you I have a feeling they wont be doing that again any time soon. Here is a link also from IMVU to help protect your work in the future. Hope this helps.

Protecting your work is being a rat? Or letting people steal from you is what will make you a rat?

I mean ... if you really want to stick it to them, make your work worthless to them. Lower all of your profits to zero credits for a few months ... you'll miss out on the profits, but your sales should skyrocket ... and you'll be underselling any of the rips that are for sale. Wait for the thief to get bored / frustrated, because they are no longer making sales on your stuff, since you are offering the cheaper price. Then profit off of the increased customer base with some new products, with profits above zero.

Normally I would recommend DMCA notices, but it sounds like you want a solution that does not involve being a rat ... but also allows you to not feel like a cornered pussy. Above is the best I could come up with.

Thank you all for the advice. It's good to get different perspectives on the situation. Since this ordeal started I had a creative block. The reason I started creating was mostly for fun and to relieve stress and anxiety. This situation really sucks So I went ahead and apologized because it was an accusation. I have no proof. At this point I'm done creating and it does bother me that I took the pussy way out. But I'm not a mesher and my products aren't watermarked. :/

Sorry I found your post too late. But how are you now? Any better? Don't quit just because they think so, you just protect your work and I think it's normal when you feel out of control your emotions. Cheer up...
Wish you feel better now.
