First of all, because this is an experiment and we want to get a sense of user behavior as reaction to the product pricing, we have NOT made a site-wide announcement and do not plan to do so. This is critical for any such experiment. IMVU thrives on user feedback and reactions generated through experiments we routinely conduct for various tools and features. The data generated from such experiments is integral to our product development process and direction. We realize that this specific pricing related experiment has caused some concerns and confusion in the IMVU community and wanted to step in to offer some additional information.

IMVU members have not seen any price increases for several years and we wanted to test the impact of pricing on customer purchasing decisions. The main goal is of course to maximize credit spend and how it will affect the overall economy of the IMVU world. We are conducting the experiment for new users only and over a period of the next few weeks till enough data is generated for our analysis. Various price points (both less and more than the existing pricing) are being tested. It is important to note that the derivation chain is not changed at all. The price change affects only the price of IMVU base products. All creators and derived creators will continue to receive the same amount of profit as before during this time period.

We will notify the community when the experiment is concluded. If and when we do decide to make actual changes to the pricing structure, we will give plenty of notice to the developer community and make a much broader announcement.'
Staff’s post can be found on page 5 of this thread. The moderators posting to this thread and other threads in various forums were instructed by Staff to post that a test was being conducted and why it was being conducted so as moderators are not paid employees we do take direction from Staff when asked to. The economy and asking IMVU for help is not a new problem. This has been going on for quite some time and can
be seen in threads located in the mis forum due to IMVU deciding that economy issues that deal with resellers and Devs’ be posted there. Devs’ and Resellers have posted to request IMVU do something and fast. As a Dev and a Moderator I am well versed in this issue and speak to Resellers, Devs’ and IMVU on this topic due to so many complaints concerning the economy.

Moderators are not misguiding Users nor pretending to know what they are talking about. Moderators in other forums are posting on this issue as well. IMVU is testing/experimenting on new users’ with the reasoning that prices haven’t changed in awhile and to help the over all economy. I see nothing posted that doesn’t match what Staff posted. I see many who do not like that IMVU is doing this and some who don’t even know the economy has been in trouble. They will know when they go to sell credits and see the value of credits has declined and when they are told they can’t sell or put on a schedule.

"DreamWeaver1"-Although I have seen posts from forum Moderators in the Bugs thread relating to this issue that claim that IMVU is conducting a consumer test currently and this is the reasoning behind this price discrepancy, I have yet to see any comment from anyone on IMVU staff. As former IMVU Moderator, at this time, I will remind all who are reading this post, that IMVU forum moderators are also IMVU users the same as any other IMVU user and although they do sometimes have access to some information in regards to the actions of IMVU Inc., they are not paid representatives of the company and anything that they state in regards to the actions or motive of IMVU, Inc. is not a statement from the company and should never be viewed as such.

4.IMVU does tests on everyone-True and is stated by Staff in this very thread

5.IMVU would be adding the price on to their current products via their products if they went forward with this-True and stated by Staff and is stated by staff in this very thread

6.Staff has nothing more to say until after the test has concluded-True and is stated by Staff and is in this very thread

7. Worrying over a price change at this time when there is still weeks to go and IMVU hasn’t even made a decision is-partly true. We feel how we feel so one person could say yes the other no.

8.This is awful to do to customers-that is up in the air again we feel how we feel so partly true depending who is reading

9.IMVU is not stealing profits from Devs’ being used in this test rather IMVU marked up their own products -True and is stated by Staff in this very thread

10.IMVU is free to charge us more for submissions -True and stated by IMVU and we agreed by continuing to submit products into their catty.

12.My post to sikk-is my post to sikk as a person stating what I would like to see happen rather then the extreme price hike and has nothing to do with Staff or being a Mod nor is it misguiding others as a Moderator. I’m still DA5 who has thoughts.

13. In moderation raising prices would help IMVU, Resellers and Devs’-True and is why it’s being looked into by IMVU as a possibility.

14. IMVU intending to raise rooms prices-True and is stated by Staff in a few past threads not sure if they will proceed with that plan however.

15. 275 credit submission fee is peanuts to what other business spend/hobbies and ect-True-especially if you buy from a deep discount Reseller. Credit value goes up and down but 275 per product is shocking when compared to other sites and so on.

I don’t see Moderators pretending to know more then others or misleading anyone and I would hope this isn’t an issue. Any information posted by me or other moderators can be found in this forum,this thread and backed up by Staff's post, threads in the mis forum and more. All are free to look up the info. We have a archive thread located in this forum that may make it easier which is filled with Staff announcements and top issues and is there for those who missed posts by Staff or those who would like to know what has happened in the past: Here
