@Don Von Alpha DomI've spent the last couple nights learning SL and setting up an avatar and diving into the sex products (which are not only legal but super easy to get).I'll just re iterate what @KokoNyny said, clothes can be purchased in one of two ways:1. You can purchase them from the website catalog just like in IMVU. (https://marketplace.secondlife.com/)2. You go to a 3d marketplace (sort of like a room on IMVU) and interact with the products in world.I've only purchased 1 product so far but I've made an entire (somewhat decent) avatar, there are lots of places in world where you can get freebies.I also agree that you should switch download firestorm. It's much better than the "vanilla" viewer (as they call them).I will say this though, IMVU has a better shop, inventory, and dressup interface. SL uses really outdated looking UIs and the UX is kind of terrible. But SL offers WAAAY more functionality in terms of customizing your avatar. You can editing products (moving, scaling, etc) in world instead of a separate mode. So if you buy a dick for example and you don't like where it is, you can put it wherever you want, even your forehead if you so desire. You can even change the body shape from butt size, shoulder width, leg length down to package bulge and even body fat.But overall IMVU is way more user friendly if you can believe that. It's a tad easier to navigate through the client and while it's not as feature rich I do believe it's easier and quicker to get a good looking avi as you can just buy a body, head, etc.. instead of having to fiddle with sliders or find the right products that work with the baked on meshes you have equipped.

Yeah, thats why in my personal opinion I prefer VU over SL, SL is more like how the name sounds it, a Second virtual life, and VU it's more of a Virtual glorified chat, and since I'm a busy person, I don't have time to get into the huge learning curve that SL has, when with VU you just login in less then a minute and you can do your things there. Thats why in the end I believe those games can't be compared, even though they have similarities, they are different on their own ways and they try to attract different types of audiences.

Other are boxes in your hand that you also need to click on them. But some must be rezzed (aka dropped on the floor) to be unpacked.
That was something that took a bit of getting used to. Would you happen to know why products come like that? I assume it's because some products come with multiple files (notes, huds, mesh, alpha, etc) and it makes delivery easier from a technical standpoint.I'm still having a little trouble getting the performance just right. I notice a major fps dip on high settings especially in populated rooms. Granted I'm using a 1050ti for the time being while I wait for the market to stabilize but damn, doesn't have trouble with games.Another issue I'm having is long loading times for textures. When I go into freebie stories for example I have to stand there for a few minutes while all the textures fade in. I've checked to make sure my network settings are correct but it doesn't seem to have helped much.

@DataMine

Yeah, even on good PCs the frame drops are real.

@Tenente
is right. Actually IMVU and Second Life don't have the same goal. IMVU is just a regular 3D "Meetic" (aka dating) game with some avatar customization in first place. While Second Life is more a real multiverse with other mini-games inside it and people do create any life they want to live since it's the point on having a "Second Life". They attract different audience because of that.

@DataMine
yeah sadly even with my RTX 3080ti the game doesn't load the textures faster nor I can't play in ultra settings in heavy or crowded lands. It's lot of different stuff that impact this. As the game evolve, some (most?) creators tend to forgot the engine is kinda aged and they still continue to make hungry and not efficient meshes or textures. We still wait for a new and optimized engine for Second Life but the devs seems to moved to making a new different game similar to VRChat called Sansar.

If it wasn't for the tracking and shitty advertisements they put into the client, I'd much prefer IMVU. I honestly cannot use the vanilla client anymore and with the risk of getting banned using better clients, I haven't been able to actually get on and enjoy myself for quite some time.

So i just went to Second-Life and check Dom and if you hover over your avi or name a pop up with your avi name will pop up on the screen by your avi with an circle icon with an i in it. Click on the icon for more info and hold. It will tell you about your acount and that same way to see someone elses info on there account. Just click there avi or hover over them for a second and then wait for their pop up name to appear and click on the circle icon.
I to made an account there 5 yrs ago and just cant get passed the welcome room lol...

Ooh so many posts lol I haven't checked in for a bit. I 100% agree with
@KokoNyny
. Now that I've been exploring, SL is completely different than VU. It doesn't feel like a game, it's a whole community. I actually found a book club lol there's a guy that reads erotic stories in the evenings and about 15 to 20 people in the group. There's also real movie nights... u can cuddle or hang out and watch a movie stream right in world. Hehe this specific group is a nude beach and dress code is nude. Areas are rated General, Moderate, Adult. You cant curse in a moderate area, no outside sex or nudity in a moderate and pretty much anything goes in Adult.

@DataMine
is correct that the UI is awful. I like firestorm better but it seems to make my pc lag more than the default viewer. I haven't tried creating anything more than some in world primitives but there's a builder's guild with tutorials and freebies. Clothing, meshes, and skins can all be found for free in world or on marketplace too. Lots of free group gifts too.
@Don Von Alpha Dom
mine looked so bad lol it took a week, a few tutorials, and a whole lot of having my hand held by a friend to get set with a decent avi. I had to be walked through it a few times but finally got the hang of it. This took about a week to figure out but I'm a little scatter brained

ty. Mix and match. Catwa head and maitreya body.
Skin, makeup, and tats also purchased but clothing and hair are freebies. I have a few outfits that were super cute freebies and only one full outfit for each avi that I paid for. Mostly I just wanted the cute thigh highs. I figured once the basic look is there, i dont need to spend much dressing up.
Are you on SL often? Hehe I'm looking to set up a bdsm munch. A few people already showed interest. I'm trying to get my friend to host at his club. My house is a little too plain.

Since I was banned on imvu, I'm everyday on SL yeah. Not much interested into the bdsm stuff tho (even I like s3x but shhh). But I have other daily stuff anyway because there is a lot to do on SL. Yeah maitreya seems the way to go for female body. Tho personaly I'm using belleza body and lelutka head cause I like to be different.

Belleza is gorgeous. I wanted that but the person teaching me wasn't familiar with it so it was easier to get the same one as her so I could follow along with her menu. Hehe today I actually went surfing. That was fun :) It was at a nude beach so I won't post a pic lol but I managed to chat with a couple of people before heading back for another lesson on the workings of SL. I got to learn about collars and how Doms can actually control the subs. That was pretty interesting. I got to drag a sub around on a leash and make her kneel lol awkward at first since I am not a Dom but I like the idea and if I find a Daddy and get collared, I'll know how it works :D
